Business Central has no project Gantt chart

The Business Central Projects module stores tasks and planning lines as lists: dates, quantities and resources, row by row. To see the project schedule, which task depends on which, or which resource is overloaded, you have to export to Excel, build a Power BI report or develop your own control, and anything changed outside has to be keyed back in by hand. Galarux Gantt adds the chart inside the Projects module itself: whatever you move on the Gantt is written straight to the tasks and planning lines, and Business Central remains the single source of data.

What Galarux Gantt does

Visual planning

Drag, resize and move tasks and planning lines directly on the chart. The hierarchy is the same as in Business Central: each task shows its lines underneath, and its bar runs from the earliest to the latest date of those lines. Every gesture is saved to Business Central instantly, with no save button and no pending changes, so whoever opens the project next already sees the new dates.

Dependencies validated by Business Central

Link tasks with finish-to-start dependencies by dragging from one bar to another. The rules are enforced on the Business Central server, not just in the chart, so they also apply when lines are changed from the standard planning lines page, a configuration package or the API. Cycles and duplicates are not allowed, and Copy Job also copies the dependencies to the new project.

Resource plan across projects

The portfolio view groups planning lines by resource across all projects. The load panel shows, day by day, planned hours against each resource's capacity, as figures or as a histogram, so you can see at a glance who is overloaded. To reassign work, just drag a line to another resource: the resource changes and the dates stay as they were.

End date your way

Choose how the end date of planning lines is calculated: Standard, the way Business Central does it; Based on duration; or Explicit end date, the one you set on the chart. The method is set globally in the Galarux Gantt setup and each project can inherit it or use its own, so projects run in different ways can coexist in the same company.

Change audit

Every change made from the Gantt is logged: which task, line, date or dependency changed, when and by whom. Each save is kept as a snapshot that can be replayed, and auditing can be switched on or off in the setup. Archived project versions also open as a read-only Gantt, exactly as they were when archived.

1. Install from AppSource

Click “Get it now” on AppSource and choose your Business Central environment. The administrator then assigns licenses to users from the Microsoft 365 admin center.

2. Set it up with the wizard

Assisted setup configures the defaults, the project, task and line colors, and the end date calculation method in a few steps.

3. Open the Gantt from the project

From the project list or a project card, the Gantt action opens the chart with its tasks, planning lines and resources.
